Now that the dust is settled for the 2024 NFL Draft, it’s time to hand out some numbers for the 49ers!

The San Francisco 49ers have revealed a handful of number changes entering the 2024 offseason. Those include all eight draft selections last month, with 49ers’ media set to see them for the first time at rookie minicamp.

NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco revealed the list Wednesday afternoon.

The biggest newcomer to receive his number is first-round pick Ricky Pearsall.

The wide receiver will be wearing No. 14 entering the NFL, switching from No. 1 he wore at Florida. He also wore No. 19 at Arizona State for three years.

“That’s what they assigned to me for camp, so we’re going to rock out with it,” Pearsall said Wednesday morning on 95.7 The Game. “We’re going to make it look good.

“They say that number has no aura but I’m going to put some aura in it.”

Of course, 49ers’ franchise quarterback Brock Purdy wore that number through training camp his rookie season. He switched to No.13 after he made the season-opening roster in 2022. And the rest, as they say, is history. Fellow QB Sam Darnold last wore No.14 in 2023.

A plethora of other players received their numbers as well, including a majority of the free agents. Below is a list of all number changes for Red & Gold in 2024.

The 49ers are counting on new defensive coordinator Nick Sorensen to get the unit back to dominance

Now they’re counting on the internal promotion of Nick Sorensen into that role — with a dose of outside perspective from former Chargers head coach Brandon Staley — to get the Niners back to performing at a dominant level defensively after taking a little step back last season. “We all know the standard here and we all want to win, we all want to play great defense and that’s the expectation,” Sorensen said Friday in his first public remarks since being hired earlier this offseason. The 49ers didn’t reach that standard last season under Wilks that had been set under previous coordinators Robert Saleh and DeMeco Ryans, especially in the playoffs when they got gashed on the ground against Green Bay and Detroit and then wilted late in a Super Bowl loss to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
