Chiefs Mock Draft: KC Gets WR Investment at No. 32 with Adonai Mitchell

The Chiefs should be in the market for a wide receiver early in the 2024 NFL Draft. Another mock draft has KC landing WR Adonai Mitchell at No. 32 overall.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in a position to invest at wide receiver early in the 2024 NFL Draft, and if the Chiefs stay put at No. 32 overall, KC could have their pick of several high-level wideouts at the end of the first round. In a new CBS Sports mock draft by Bryan DeArdo, the Chiefs do exactly that.

DeArdo’s mock has four receivers going before No. 32 overall: Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Ladd McConkey, surprisingly omitting Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze from the first round entirely. At 32, DeArdo has the Chiefs taking the fifth receiver in the first round: Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell.

“Texas has two top-ranked receiver prospects in Mitchell and Xavier Worthy,” DeArdo writes. “I have the Chiefs choosing Mitchell largely due to his size (6-foot-4, 190 pounds).”

Even aside from the fact that most of the NFL world has had Odunze locked in as at least a top-15 prospect and a top-three receiver in this class, the Chiefs retain several receiving options at No. 32 in this mock, including both Texas receivers. If one of the other receiver-drafting teams opted for Odunze instead of Thomas or McConkey, the Chiefs could have a wealth of WR choices at the end of the first round.

In March, Jordan Foote of Arrowhead Report delivered his scouting report on Mitchell and his fit with the Chiefs:

“The upside for Mitchell is obvious,” Foote wrote. “His 100th percentile outcome is combining his catch-point skills and athletic gifts to become a game-breaker and elite target at the next level. Despite some questions about consistency and more refined statistical production, he’s a worthy early pick that a team should welcome into the fold with open arms within the top 50 selections.”
