Dallas Cowboys Draft Dak Prescott New Weapon – Texas Longhorns- Adonai Mitchell – for ‘All-In’ Season in NFL Mock

In what could be Dak Prescott’s final year as a Dallas Cowboy, the franchise gets him an offensive weapon in Texas’ Adonai Mitchell.

The Dallas Cowboys’ approach to free agency left many puzzled. Now the franchise is in a position where, in the upcoming draft, Will McClay and Co. have to find multiple, starters with limited picks.

The offensive line was ravaged as Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz left, leaving Dak Prescott, who was sacked 39 times (second most in career), with holes in his protection.

For most, drafting an offensive lineman in the first round is the “obvious” choice given how many talented starters there are in the class, but in CBS Sports’ latest mock, Dallas gets Dak a deep-threat weapon in Texas receiver Adonai Mitchell and doesn’t fortify his protection.

“There are more pressing needs for the Cowboys (offensive tackle), but the draft board played out where Dallas can’t pass up on Mitchell,” CBS Sports writes. “His deep-ball tracking ability opens up the slot for CeeDee Lamb, making the passing game even more explosive in what could be Dak Prescott’s final season in Dallas.”

Providing that Prescott has ample time and protection to utilize Mitchell, the Texas star offers the Cowboys offense something they didn’t have consistently last season – a big, physical, deep threat at the receiver position.

The 6-4, 196lb Mitchell gives Dak a fighting chance at putting up enough points to win games next season, and what’s more, when Mitchell is targeted, more often than not, he completes the catch. PFF has Mitchell having just a 2.2% drop rate, which will make him a valuable target for Prescott (55 rec, 845 yards, 11 TDs).

Dallas’ offensive line issues are so glaring that it makes this pick by CBS a little hard to believe, but then again, the Cowboys’ whole offseason has been odd. So, nothing would surprise Cowboys Nation at this point.

In what could be Prescott and McCarthy’s final year as Cowboys, the franchise gets a physical receiver to add to what is already an explosive offense.
