Chicago Cubs Rising Star Picked to Hit Big Milestone For First Time in Career

The Chicago Cubs might have a superstar on their hands if he keeps up this level of play.

The Chicago Cubs have a budding star on their hands as one of their young players is making tons of strides this season. He could also be on the way to reaching an important milestone.

Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter looked around the league and found 10 players who could find themselves hitting the 30 home run mark for the first time in 2024. The player he chose for the Cubs was a no-brainer.

Morel has been one of the better hitters across the league so far in 2024, making for an exciting start to his age 24 season.

His numbers are up across the board so far, making strides in pretty much every single category, following a trend he set between is rookie and sophomore campaigns.

He’s slashing .298/.340/.553 right now, which is up from .247/.313/.508 last season. He’s currently on-pace to hit 44 home runs this year, which would smash those expectations and the 26 he hit in 2023.

Of course, that’s a really big number that will be hard to reach, but Morel has shown major improvements in his judgement at the plate which will allow him to at least give himself an opportunity to put more over the fence.

Morel was the hero of Chicago’s recent victory over the San Diego Padres as he hit a bomb for a grand slam.

It might be smart for the Cubs to start working on a contract extension sooner rather than later, before Morel becomes even more expensive than he currently is.

Reaching the 30 home run milestone at this point of the season might be much easier to accomplish than expected, especially if he keeps up the level of production he’s shown so far.
